A big part of me wants to say pass it so designers can finally have protection of their unique creativity especially for the smaller based designers (i.e. who use etsy, etc.) out there but when applied to big design houses there are many downsides: 1. The 3 yr protection period which will more than cover a trend’s popularity will allow already ridiculously priced clothing to be more pricey since they have a monopoly on their product 2. Judging the creativity of fashion to be unique is a bunch of bullshit anyways because many big designers are inspired by each other in various ways and they often take trends from previous decades and simply update them (ex. the current 70’s bell bottom trend, I mean how is that unique?). Therefore it’s just a way to give already filthy rich fashion companies more money and to make it harder for fashion-conscious students and middle class to enjoy the trends. We can’t have it both ways though. Therefore the problem is do we protect the little apartment studio designer and consequently give a huge amount of economic power to big design houses or do we just continue to let things go the way they have?

Since when is going bra-less a fashion trend?! Rant time!

1. Notice the 3 photos in the article? Those women have only slightly more breast than an everyday guy. If 85% of the female population tried this trend, it would be disasterous.

2. Believe it or not going bra-less CAN be dangerous to a female’s health. Women who do not use proper support according to their specific size/need can actually risk tearing breast tissue, ouch! Although lingerie is obviously fashion, it also serves an important function as well and arguably more so than other pieces of clothing.

3. The article references the runway as its source for this trend. According to my knowledge, designers have done this for countless years with various outfits in their collection lineups. To say simply from this that it is an emerging trend is ridiculous!
